Police Beat 8120
Welcome to beat 8120, I am Sergeant Marty McCarthy, and I will be the primary point of contact for any of your questions or concerns regarding the neighborhood. I was hired by the Palatine Police Department in 1999 and have served as a patrol officer, school resource officer at Palatine High School, juvenile officer and detective. I am currently assigned as supervisor on the midnight shift which starts at 9:30 pm and ends at 5:30 am.
Beat 8120 is located in the southeast section of Palatine. The beat covers approximately 2 ½ square miles and is roughly bordered by Jane Addams Drive to the north, Rohlwing Road and Northwest Highway to the west, Northwest Highway to the south, and Wilke Road on the east. The beat consists of mainly single family neighborhoods and retail establishments, as well as condominium communities. Schools within 8120 include Jane Addams, Lake Louise, St Thomas, and Winston Campus Elementary and Junior High. The beat is home to numerous parks from the Palatine and Salt Creek Park Districts, the Palatine Bicycle Trail, and the Twin Lakes Golf and Recreation Area.
Specially trained Bike Officers patrol the path to interact with residents and help keep it safe. In addition, officers from the 8120 team meet with neighborhood watch groups, attend block parties with residents, interact with business owners and work together with school officials on a regular basis.
The officers in Beat 8120 take pride in their work and are always interested in providing quality service to our residents. The Neighborhood Based Policing philosophy allows the 8120 Beat officers to work in partnership with the community and to stay connected with your needs and concerns. I encourage those with any questions or concerns to contact me at 847-359-9000.
