- Public Education
The Palatine Fire Department places a high priority on public education. There are a number of different programs we provide or participate in throughout the year which give us the opportunity to serve our residents and allow them to help us keep them safe.
One of the most common questions we hear is about safety in apartment buildings and condominiums, especially high-rises. The Palatine Fire Department has developed a fire safety brochure (PDF) especially for our residents who live in multi-family dwellings.
If you have any questions on fire safety or would like to schedule a program for your group, please contact our office at 847-202-6340.
Block parties are a popular activity throughout Palatine every summer.
CPR & First-Aid Classes
The Palatine Fire Department offers classes on CPR/AED training, as well as First-Aid to groups, companies, or organizations.
Fire Extinguisher Training
Fire extinguisher training is available from the Palatine Fire Department.
Kids Life Jacket Loaner Program
The Palatine Fire Department, in cooperation with the BOAT/US Foundation provides Coast Guard approved life jackets in a range of children’s sizes for short-term loan at no cost, as part of the Foundation’s “Life Jacket Loaner Program for Kids.”
A key to any public education program is making sure that the message actually is delivered to the people of the community. While the Palatine Fire Department uses a number of strategies to accomplish this goal, one very important aspect is to utilize the local media.
For those who wonder what a fire truck looks like up close, how to use a fire extinguisher, or what a fire station looks like can join the members of the Palatine Fire Department at our Annual Fire Department Open House.
