Village Hall Closed in Observance of Veterans Day


Village Hall will be closed on Monday, November 11 and will reopen on Tuesday, November 12 at 8:00 a.m. Thank you to all our veterans!

Veterans Day will not impact any garbage, recycling and yard waste collections.

Annual Leaf Collection Program

The Public Works Department began its annual Curbside Leaf Collection Program on Monday, October 21, 2019. Each single-family residence has two scheduled pickups. A final pickup for all zones will begin on Monday, November 18. Please click here to look up your scheduled collection days. All raked leaves must be placed into the street and ready for pickup no later than 7:00 a.m. on scheduled days, but no earlier than 4:00 p.m. on the day prior to collection.

The Palatine Public Library District invites everyone to discover, explore, and engage in critical thinking on Saturday, November 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library's second annual STEAM Fair! Over 20 local businesses and organizations are bringing exciting activites that highlight subjects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Holidays on the Town-Downtown Palatine

The holiday season is fast approaching and the Downtown Palatine Business Association is helping area residents kick it off with the very popular, Holidays on the Town event on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in downtown Palatine!

The DPBA Holiday Trolley will whisk attendees around to the 20 participating businesses-quaint shops, storefronts and restaurants - in Palatine's historic downtown. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be offered at select locations, in addition to raffles, product and service demonstrations, special giveaways and other seasonal offers. 

A Holidays on the Town Passport is required to participate in the event, and to ride on the Holiday Trolley. Passports are available for pre-purchase at any of the participating locations, and on the night of the event for $5. For more information, visit Downtown Palatine Business Association.


Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

The holiday season arrives with a visit from Santa at Towne Square Park for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting! Join us Saturday, November 23 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and enjoy holiday music, cookies, hot chocolate, and pictures with Santa in the Towne Square gazebo.

Holiday Used Book Sale


Friends of Palatine Library will hold a Holiday Used Book Sale Friday, November 22 through Sunday, November 24. Choose from like-new, donated items including books for a wide-array of genres, CDs, and DVDs suitable for gift giving. Antique books prior to 1950, comic books, graphic art, and more for sale at reasonable prices! Come early to check out the great selection and discount pricing that the sale offers. Free Admission.

Saturday, November 23, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 24, 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m


All items are half price! All proceeds from the sale benefit Palatine Public Library District. The Friends group funds the Summer and Winter Reading Programs, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, and other projects which have included furniture, new collections, and more. Palatine Police Collecting Winter Coats & Clothing through
November 30


The Palatine Police Department is collecting new and gently used coats and winter clothing for all ages. Drop off is in the Palatine Police Department Lobby, 595 N. Hicks Road.

You may drop off clothing in the large collection box in our front lobby anytime now through Saturday, November 30. The clothing will benefit the P.A.T.H. Program here in Palatine.

Each year the Palatine Township coordinates a number of programs which assist our neighbors in need. Helping families from our community is a wonderful way to celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season.

Final Collection for Curbside Yard Waste

The final collection of bagged yard waste and bundled brush will end, for the season, the week of December 9, 2019. Final bagged yard waste collection will take place on your regular garbage collection day. Please have yard waste at the curb by 6:30 AM on your collection day. Curbside yard waste collection will resume the week of April 9, 2020.
