Sidewalk Maintenance Program

As part of the Village's annual sidewalk maintenance program, deteriorated sidewalks are being replaced in the area south of Illinois Avenue from Plum Grove Road to Quentin Road and from Wood Street south to Euclid
Avenue between Quentin and Roselle Roads. Designated sidewalks are removed and the new concrete is typically poured within 48 hours. The sidewalk is reopened after the new concrete has cured, which is usually within three days.

For more information about this public improvement project, please contact the Public Works Department at (847)705-5200.

Gateway Center Parking Deck Repairs

Repairs at the Gateway Center Parking Deck, located at 251 West Colfax Street, have been recently occurring on the first floor.
As soon as Thursday, August 29th, 2019, several parking spaces on the second floor will be closed to accommodate the work. Approximately 50 office parking spaces will be closed as well as approximately 50 commuter parking spaces nearest the west stair and elevator tower. The closed permit spaces will be in the area of spaces numbered 2000-2030 and 2100-2123.
Signage has been posted to direct traffic around the work areas. In addition to the Gateway Center Parking Deck, the Village also maintains several public parking lots and spaces throughout downtown Palatine. Please consider alternate locations during this short-term closure. (View the Village Downtown Parking Map (PDF).
This closure is tentatively to continue through Labor Day with spaces to be reopened for use on Tuesday, September 3rd.
For more information about this repair project, please contact the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.

This Labor Day, and Every Day, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

The Palatine Police Department announced its plans for a traffic safety campaign focusing on impaired, unbuckled and distracted drivers. The high-visibility crackdown will run from Aug. 16 through the early morning hours of Sept. 3 to include the Labor Day holiday, an often deadly time on Illinois roads.

The Palatine Police Department is partnering with law enforcement agencies across Illinois for the increased statewide effort.  Extra uniformed police officers will conduct saturation patrols dedicated to identifying and arresting impaired drivers, as well as strictly enforcing speeding, seat belt, and distracted driving laws.  Additionally, the Palatine Police Department will conduct a Roadside Safety Check from the late evening hours on Friday, August 30 through the early morning hours on Saturday, August 31 in the area of Algonquin and Roselle Roads.

Statistics show that an average of 10,000 people were killed each year from 2012 to 2016 - that’s one fatality every 50 minutes, or the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing each year with no survivors.

This Labor Day weekend, remember to designate a sober driver and don’t let friends or family members drive drunk. Even a small amount of alcohol can impair judgment and reaction times, making driving unsafe.

The Illinois Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Palatine Bike Path Construction to Begin on Harper's West Side

The Village of Palatine/IDOT will be constructing a multi-use path on the west side of the college. This path will connect to the path on the east side of campus, making it possible for you to walk, run or bike around the entire campus. It will also connect to the Palatine bike trail system to the north and the Paul Douglas path that crosses the expressway at Roselle Rd to the south. Construction will begin September 3 and continue through mid-October. During this time, Harper College’s Roselle Rd. entrance will remain open, though the right turn lane will be closed.
