Construction Update

road

Construction continues on First Bank Drive from Northwest Highway to Hicks Road as part of the First Bank Drive Rehabilitation Project. As soon as Monday, July 8, the north-bound/east-bound lanes are tentatively scheduled to reopen and the south-bound/west-bound lanes will be closed to all traffic. Pavement removal operations on the south-bound/west-bound lanes will then begin. The detour route will be adjusted to direct traffic to use south-bound Hicks Road and west-bound Northwest Highway. Access to businesses will be maintained during this time.

For more information about this public improvement project, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.

Palatine Township's Apple Tree Campaign

Palatine Township’s Apple Tree Campaign is now in its 31st year! This Apple Tree program collects and distributes new backpacks and school supplies to under resourced children in our community. Now that schools are getting out for summer break, the Township is preparing for the annual Apple Tree Campaign. The program provides students with new backpacks and school supplies so that they can start the school year prepared and ready to learn.

A collection of supplies takes place from July 6 through 31. Please bring new school supplies to the Hometown Fest 4th of July Parade, as we “kick-off” the Apple Tree Campaign. Distribution to the children will be August 8 through 10 at Palatine Township. Volunteers are needed to set up and maintain collection sites, sort supplies, and assist the children on distribution days. For information about donating or volunteering, contact Judy Mazzone, at 847-358-6133.

For a complete list of school supplies needed and collection site locations, please visit palatinetownship-il.gov.
