Welcome to the Village of PalatinE-Newsletter

The Village of Palatine wishes to share community news, events and information
important to the residents it serves.
The Village of Palatine will release a weekly
PalatinE-Newsletter keeping our subscribers informed of the happenings within the Village of Palatine.

Construction Alert

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be crack sealing Rand Road from Ela Road in Lake Zurich to Golf Road in Des Plaines. Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 10, depending on weather. The contractor, Freehill Asphalt, will be performing the work at night to reduce traffic congestion on Rand Road. The section in Palatine is expected to take one to two days to complete.
For more information about this maintenance work, please contact IDOT at
(847) 705-4000.

Wetland and Tree Assessments

Over the next few weeks, the Village of Palatine’s consultant, Bollinger, Lach & Associates, will be conducting a wetland and tree assessment along Palatine Road between Quentin Road and Smith Street as part of the Phase I Engineering for the future improvement of Palatine Road. Trees will be inventoried and marked using steel tags. Trees will not be identified for removal at this time.
An open house and public hearing will be held in the future for residents to learn about and provide input on the Palatine Road resurfacing project. Phase I studies are currently underway and Phase II design work should begin as soon as 2020. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2022/2023.
For more information about this surveying work, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.

2nd Annual Illinois Special Olympics Palatine Police 5K

The Palatine Police Department would like to thank everyone from the community who came out and participated in the 2nd Annual Illinois Special Olympics Palatine Police 5K Run and Walk this past Sunday, raising over $ 700 for Special Olympics. A job well done and a huge thank you goes to Officer Julieann Ferraro and Commander Vargas who organized the event and continue to put their heart and soul into making a difference on and off-duty in the Palatine community. A special thanks goes out to the Palatine Police Boosters for supporting this worthy event by supplying volunteers and goodies for participants.

Law Enforcement Showing Zero Tolerance for Seat Belt Violations

Between May 10 and 28, the Palatine Police Department participated in the annual Click It or Ticket high-visibility seat-belt enforcement campaign to highlight the importance of seat-belt use through enforcement and community outreach. This campaign brings awareness to area residents and issued 140 citations for seat-belt violations during one of the busiest holiday travel periods of the year.

Illinois’ seat-belt use rate is nearly 95%, but unbelted occupants disproportionately account for more than half of those killed in traffic crashes. This Click It or Ticket campaign aims to change the behavior of the millions of people who still don’t buckle up. Thousands of lives could be saved each year if every vehicle occupant was properly restrained when traveling on the road. During the mobilization, Palatine Police Department issued:

  • 135 seat belt citations
  • child car seat citation
  • uninsured motorists
  • speeding citations
  • drug arrests
  • 32 Other citations
  • 99 Use of Cell Phones citations
