Remember to set your clocks back one hour when you go to bed on Saturday. Sunday, November 4 at 2 a.m. marks the end of Daylight Savings Time. Also, this is a good time to check and change your household fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  Please review the tips from the Palatine Fire Department below.

Holiday Tree

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony


Join us in Towne Square for the Village of Palatine's Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, November 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  This event features Santa and the Mayor of Palatine!  Enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, festive music, and take pictures with Santa.

Annual Leaf Collection Program

Leaf Collection

The Public Works Department began its annual Curbside Leaf Collection Program on Monday, October 15, 2018. Each single-family residence has two scheduled pickups. A final pickup for all zones will begin on Monday, November 12, 2018. Please click here to look up your scheduled collection days. All raked leaves must be placed into the street and ready for pickup no later than 7:00 a.m. on scheduled days, but no earlier than 4:00 p.m. on the day prior to collection.

Palatine Farmers' Market is Year Around!

Palatine Farmers' Market

The Winter Farmers' Market will offer 15 vendors inside the Metra Train Station beginning Saturday, November 3, from 8:00 a.m. until noon every first and third Saturday of the month.  Visit the Palatine Sister Cities website to view the various services, entertainment and products available.

Business Expo and Community Showcase

Business Expo

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Business Expo and Community Showcase from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Falcon Park Recreation Center,

2195 N. Hicks Road in Palatine.


At this free community event, attendees will enjoy all-day entertainment, raffles and giveaways with more than 50 local businesses and organizations showcasing their wares and services, in addition to entertainment and interactive demonstrations that are scheduled throughout the day. Family-friendly activities will include a kid’s entertainment area with face painting, balloon animals, crafts and local mascots, along with storytelling, a magic show, K-9 demonstration, musical performances and more.

Palatine Library STEAM Fair

The Palatine Public Library District invites everyone to discover, problem solve, and engage in critical thinking on Saturday, November 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library’s first-ever STEAM Fair! Over 20 local businesses and organizations are bringing exciting activities that highlight subjects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Pick up a map when you arrive to collect stamps and take home a bag of goodies. Welcome to everyone. For more information, please call 847-358-5881, x132.

Political Sign Regulations


The following summarizes the Village's political sign regulations:


Political Signs on Private Property:
- Must have property Owner’s permission.
- Signs may be installed within 30 days of Election Day and must be removed within 48 hours after the Election.  
These time restrictions do not apply to private residential property.
- Property Owner will be responsible for any violations.
 
Political Signs within the Public Right-of-Way:
- Signs may be installed within 72 hours prior to Election Day (signs may be installed no earlier than Saturday, November 3, 2018).
- Signs must be removed within 24 hours after the Election (signs shall be removed by the end of Wednesday, November 7, 2018).
- No sign may be placed in a boulevard landscaped area, median landscaped area, decorative planter, asphalt or brick paver area.
- No sign may be attached to any lamp post, utility pole, tree, public structure or building, ground sign or other permanent structure.
- Candidate will be responsible for any violations.

General Restrictions:
- All signs shall be limited to a maximum area of 8 square feet and a maximum height of 4 feet.
- All signs shall provide a minimum setback of 1 foot from any curb, shoulder or sidewalk.

Please be aware that the Village will remove any signs that are illegal or deemed to create safety concerns for pedestrians or motorists. 

PLEASE RESPECT OUR COMMUNITY AND ADHERE TO THESE SIGN REGULATIONS.
