Political Sign

Political Sign Regulations

The following summarizes the Village's political sign regulations:

Political Signs on Private Property:
- Must have property Owner’s permission.
- Signs may be installed within 30 days of Election Day and must be removed within 48 hours after the Election.  
These time restrictions do not apply to private residential property.
- Property Owner will be responsible for any violations.
Political Signs within the Public Right-of-Way:
- Signs may be installed within 72 hours prior to Election Day (signs may be installed no earlier than Saturday, November 3, 2018).
- Signs must be removed within 24 hours after the Election (signs shall be removed by the end of Wednesday, November 7, 2018).
- No sign may be placed in a boulevard landscaped area, median landscaped area, decorative planter, asphalt or brick paver area.
- No sign may be attached to any lamp post, utility pole, tree, public structure or building, ground sign or other permanent structure.
- Candidate will be responsible for any violations.

General Restrictions:
- All signs shall be limited to a maximum area of 8 square feet and a maximum height of 4 feet.
- All signs shall provide a minimum setback of 1 foot from any curb, shoulder or sidewalk.

Please be aware that the Village will remove any signs that are illegal or deemed to create safety concerns for pedestrians or motorists. 


Annual Leaf Collection Program

The Public Works Department began its annual Curbside Leaf Collection Program on Monday, October 15, 2018. Each single-family residence has two scheduled pickups. A final pickup for all zones will begin on Monday, November 12, 2018. Please click here to look up your scheduled collection days. All raked leaves must be placed into the street and ready for pickup no later than 7:00 a.m. on scheduled days, but no earlier than 4:00 p.m. on the day prior to collection.

Fire Fighter Blood Donor Challenge

The Palatine Fire Department is hosting a Fire Fighter Blood Donor Challenge on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Palatine Fire Station (Station 84) located at 220 W. Illinois Avenue in Palatine. 

All participating donors will receive a commemorative t-shirt in appreciation for their efforts. Sub sandwiches and refreshments will be provided as well as a free coupon to Papa John’s for a large pizza with 1 topping to all donors. The blood drive will be conducted by Vitalant (formally known as Lifesource), Chicagoland’s Blood Center.

Palatine Park District Halloween Party

Palatine Parks Halloween Party

Join Palatine Park District for a jack-o-lantern gym with activities for the wee ones, challenging carnival games for the school-age children, plus a craft table and ghoulish goodies for the whole family!  Goody bags will be handed out to the first 500 children. There are no refunds or exchanges for this event.

Online registration will close for this event at 11:59pm on Friday, October 26. All day of registrations will be processed in person at the door.

The Halloween party takes place 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 27 at the Community Center, 250 E. Wood Street.  

Palatine Farmers' Market is Year Around!

Palatine Farmers' Market

Enjoy more than 30 vendors showcasing their wares, products, and services at the Summer Farmers' Market in the Metra Station parking lot every Saturday through October 27.

The Palatine Farmers' Market is a premier market in the Northwest Suburbs for its fresh picked produce and fresh baked breads, cookies and pies offered every Saturday. Locally harvested fruits, vegetables, micro greens, garlic, fresh eggs and meats, amish butter, gourmet cheeses, spices, condiments, coffee, pickles, pet treats, flowers, vegan burgers, gluten-free granola and mini-donuts are available. Additional items offered include hand-crafted soap, pottery, and knife sharpening. 

Master Gardeners are also on hand to answer landscaping questions. The atmosphere is friendly and offers music from local musicians, occasional face painters and balloon artists. 

The smaller Winter Farmers' Market will offer 15 vendors inside the Metra Train Station beginning Saturday, November 3, from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Visit the Palatine Sister Cities website to view the various services, entertainment and products available.
