Annual Electronics Recycling Event

Bring your old or unwanted electronics to be recycled!

The Village of Palatine, Palatine Park District, and Harper College are teaming up with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) to host the event at Harper College (1200 W Algonquin Road) this Saturday, July 21. Participants must be in a vehicle to enter.

The event will run from 9 am to Noon, with entry through EUCLID ENTRANCE ONLY. Residents from any of the 23
SWANCC member communities may participate.

Citizen Police Academy Accepting Applications

The Palatine Police Department is now accepting applications for the fall session of the Citizen Police Academy that will run from August 29th through October 31st on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The Citizen Police Academy is a unique opportunity for participants to gain insight into the world of law enforcement as
well as foster positive relationships with the officers who serve in their community.  

Numerous members of the department will be instructing during the ten week academy with classroom lectures and hands on exercises. The topics to be covered will include:

  • Use of Force
  • Shoot Don’t Shoot Scenarios
  • Crime Prevention
  • Vehicle Stops
  • Neighborhood Based Policing
  • SWAT Operations
  • Gangs
  • K-9 Demonstration
  • Animal Control
  • Crime Scene Investigation

The goal of the Citizen Police Academy is to educate citizens regarding the law enforcement profession and to strive to work cooperatively with the residents of Palatine to make our community a safe place to live and work.
Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and reside in Palatine.  Class size is limited and spots fill quickly.  Please fill out the applicationand mail it to the address below or drop it off at the Palatine Police Department.  If you should have any questions, contact Commander Larry Canada at (847) 359-9009.

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways has delayed the start date of this project. South-bound lane closure and detour route will be in effect from Monday, July 30, 2018, through Friday, August 24, 2018. For more information, please contact CCDOTH at (312) 603-1601.

South-bound Quentin Road between Dundee and Lake Cook Roads will be closed starting Monday, July 16, 2018, through Friday, August 10, 2018. The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH) will be performing repairs to the bridge over Salt Creek. A detour will be posted to direct traffic east on Lake Cook Road, south on Rand Road to Hicks Road, then west on Dundee Road. North-bound traffic will remain open during this project.

Vehicle Stickers

As of July 1, the Village's 2018/2019 vehicle stickers must have been purchased and displayed on your vehicle. 

If you have not purchased your vehicle sticker, please do so online or in-person at 200 E. Wood Street in order to avoid a ticket.

Following the June 30 deadline, an additional $20 late fee will be applied to all vehicle sticker purchases.

Hometown Pride Awards, Nominate Today! 

Nominate properties in Palatine for the annual Hometown Pride Awards! The Village of Palatine Beautification Commission is hosting the 2018 Hometown Pride Awards to honor residential and business properties that display attractive landscaping and have exceptional curb appeal. Judges evaluate entries based on overall appearance, design, maintenance, color, and diversity. To enter, submit one 4"x6" photo taken within the last 30 days and a nomination form to the Public Works Department. Nominations must be received by Friday, July 20, 2018, and judging will take place on Monday, July 23, 2018.
