Free Trees from the MWRD

Free Trees from the MWRD

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) recently started the Restore the Canopy program, which offers free tree saplings to residents of Cook County, regardless of whether they reside in the MWRD's service area. Every Wednesday between 9 AM and 12 PM from March through October, people can pick up a bur oak, pin oak, and/or swamp white oak at any of the MWRD's six water reclamation plants (Calumet in Chicago, Egan in Schaumburg, Hanover Park, Kirie in Des Plaines, O'Brien in Skokie, or Stickney in Cicero). Trees are available either bare-rooted or potted.

For more information about this program, please visit the MWRD’s website or call the MWRD Public Affairs Office at (312) 751-6633.
Vehicle Stickers
Vehicle Stickers and Animal Licenses
Vehicle stickers and animal licenses are now available for purchase.

Residents are encouraged to purchase both the vehicle stickers and animal licenses online to avoid delays, both are due annually before July 1. Follow the online instructions and the vehicle stickers and animal licenses will be mailed to you.

You may purchase in person, at the Finance counter, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood Street, Palatine, IL 60067 or by mail (only checks will be accepted).

To avoid penalties and citations, vehicle stickers must be purchased and affixed to vehicles by June 30. Late fees will be charged beginning July 1.
