Fire Hydrant Flushing

Fire Hydrant Flushing Begins April 2

The Public Works Department will begin its annual “flushing” of fire hydrants the week of April 2

This process moves water through the pipelines at a fast rate to clean the lines, clear stagnant water, identify broken hydrants, and ensure water delivered to homes and businesses is of the highest quality.

Each hydrant is left open for approximately 2-3 minutes until the water runs clear.  Crews will work in sections. The whole process takes about 3 weeks to complete, depending on weather. For more information about hydrant flushing, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.

Trees with green circle will be trimmed.

Parkway Tree Trimming Has Begun in the Village

Residents may have noticed a green dot painted on select parkway trees. The dot indicates trees which require trimming.  Contracted crews began trimming earlier this week and will continue for the next two weeks, depending on weather.

This year's target area is bounded by Palatine Road south to Peregrine Drive and Quentin Road west to Roselle Road, with another small section from Northwest Highway south to Colfax Street and Plum Grove Road west to Smith Street.
For more information about the cycle tree trimming program, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.
