Fire Hydrant Flushing Begins April 2
The Public Works Department will begin its annual “flushing” of fire hydrants the week of April 2.
This process moves water through the pipelines at a fast rate to clean the lines, clear stagnant water, identify broken hydrants, and ensure water delivered to homes and businesses is of the highest quality.
Each hydrant is left open for approximately 2-3 minutes until the water runs clear. Crews will work in sections. The whole process takes about 3 weeks to complete, depending on weather. For more information about hydrant flushing, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.
