Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!

Through January 2 the Palatine Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), Illinois State Police and local law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois in a year-end "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement campaign.

The Palatine Police Department will have extra uniformed Palatine police officers on the streets conducting saturation patrols dedicated to identifying and arresting impaired drivers, as well as strictly enforcing speeding, cell phone and seat belt violations. Officers will be looking for, and ticketing, individuals who aren’t buckled up.

Impaired driving offenders often serve jail time, lose their driver’s license, are charged higher insurance rates and pay unanticipated expenses ranging from attorney fees, court costs, car towing, repairs and lost wages. The ultimate cost of impaired driving is causing a traffic crash that injures or kills. Driving impaired by alcohol, drugs or both is a deadly choice that too often carries deadly consequences. The choice should always be simple: Never drive impaired. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement effort is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Let’s all work together to make our roadways safe this holiday season!
