PalatinE-Newsletter keeping our subscribers informed of the happenings within the Village of Palatine.

Beautification Commission

Decorations Welcome the Autumn Season in Palatine

The Village of Palatine would thanks the Beautification Commissioners, student volunteers from Palatine and Fremd High Schools, and other who donated their time and talents to install corn stalks in Downtown Palatine. The fall decorations add a festive touch to the autumn season and to this weekend's Oktoberfest celebration.

Scarecrows on Parade

 10th Annual Scarecrows on Parade!

Judging and Award Ceremony:
Drop off skeletons at the corner of Brockway and Slade Streets by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Judging will take place at 1:00 p.m.

The award ceremony will be held in the Oktoberfest Main Tent.

*All participating scarecrows will remain on display along the rail walk fence.

Oktoberfest Celebration
September 15 - 17

The Oktoberfest celebration is held in downtown Palatine at the corner of Smith and Slade Streets (next to the Metra Station). Free admission, authentic German music, food and
activities for all ages!

Raffles will be held to support local charities and community projects.

  • Oktoberfest Family Bike Ride, 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM (11:15 AM - 11:30 AM - Free registration for Oktoberfest Family Bike Ride hosted by the Bike Palatine Club)
  • Family Day, Noon to 3:30 PM 
  • Face Painting by Positive Strokes
  • Birdhouse Construction by Home Depot
  • Introduction to K-9 Dog Unit by the Palatine Police Department
  • Display of Fire Response and Rescue Vehicle by the Palatine Fire Department
  • Announcement of Scarecrow Winner & Poster Winner, 12:50 to       1 PM

Railway Closures

Railroad Crossing Closure at Baldwin Road Continues

The temporary closure at the railroad crossing on Baldwin Road will remain through Thursday, September 21, until 5:00 p.m. This closure is necessary in order to perform routine maintenance and ensure continued safety along the Metra Northwest line. A posted detour will include Dundee, Ela, and Palatine Roads.

September is National Preparedness Month. To get alerts for emergencies and other important community news, sign up for Citizen-Alert. The emergency notification system enables the Village to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather occurrences, critical road closures, missing persons, and potential evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods.
