Patriots Day Remembrance

 

Join the Palatine Fire and Police Departments on Monday, September 11, 2017 in honoring the sacrifices of those that lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The memorial ceremony will be held at the Palatine Firefighters Memorial at the corner of N. Brockway and W. Slade Street at 9:00 a.m.

Citizen Alert

National Preparedness Month


September is National Preparedness Month. To get alerts for emergencies and other important community news, sign up for Citizen-Alert. The emergency notification system enables the Village to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather occurrences, critical road closures, missing persons, and potential evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods.


Harper Cert training

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training


Individuals can get involved before disaster occurs by becoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trained. Harper College located in Palatine offers a CERT training course.

T
ake an active role in emergency preparedness and be ready to respond to natural disasters such as tornadoes, floods, or man made threats such as terrorism and public health threats. CERT training topics include setting up treatment areas, HAZMAT and fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, medical techniques, and more. CERT members are encouraged to take an active role in ongoing emergency preparedness projects within their communities. Scarecrows on Parade

Participate in the 10th Annual Scarecrows on Parade!


Scarecrows still available to enter in the 10th annual scarecrow decorating contest as part of the Palatine Rotary Club's 2017 Oktoberfest Festival. Home Depot in Palatine will provide 20 scarecrow skeletons, so don't wait!

Scarecrow Skeleton Pick Up:
Public Works Department

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 2:30 PM

Judging and Award Ceremony:
Drop off skeletons at the corner of Brockway and Slade Streets by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Judging will take place at 12:00 p.m.


The award ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Oktoberfest Main Tent.


*All participating scarecrows will remain on display along the rail walk fence.

The Oktoberfest celebration is held in downtown Palatine at the corner of Smith and Slade Streets. Free admission, authentic German music, food and
activities for all ages!


Raffles will be held to support local charities and community projects.
