PalatinE-Newsletter keeping our subscribers informed of the happenings within the Village of Palatine.


Labor Day

Village Hall Closed in Observance of the Labor Day Holiday


Village Hall will be closed on Monday, September 4 and will reopen on Tuesday, September 5 at 8:00 a.m. The Village of Palatine wishes you and your loved ones a safe and happy Labor Day!

Holiday Refuse Collection for the Labor Day Holiday


All refuse collections for the Village of Palatine are scheduled for pickup one day later during the week of Labor Day.

Refuse collected on Mondays will be collected Tuesday, September 5. Refuse collected on Tuesdays will be collected Wednesday, September 6, and Wednesdays collection will be collected on Thursday, September 7.

Scarecrows on Parade

10th Annual Scarecrows on Parade


Scarecrows still available to enter in the 10th annual scarecrow decorating contest as part of the Palatine Rotary Club's 2017 Oktoberfest Festival. Home Depot in Palatine will provide 20 scarecrow skeletons, so don't wait!

(847) 705-5200 to reserve your scarecrow today!

Scarecrow Skeleton Pick Up:
Public Works Department 
148 W. Illinois Ave.
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 2:30 PM

Judging and Award Ceremony:
Drop off skeletons at the corner of Brockway and Slade Streets by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Judging will take place at 12:00 p.m.


The award ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Oktoberfest Main Tent.
*All participating scarecrows will remain on display along the rail walk fence.

The Oktoberfest celebration is held in downtown Palatine at the corner of Smith and Slade Streets. Free admission, authentic German music and good and activities for all ages!


Raffles will be held to support local charities and community projects.

  • Phenix performs, 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 16, Noon to Midnight
  • Oktoberfest Family Bike Ride, 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Die Musikmeisters performs, 3:30 p.m.
  • Phenix performs, 8 p.m.
Sunday, September 17, Noon to 6 p.m.
  • Die Musikmeisters performs, 3:30 p.m.
  • Johnny Wagner performs, 8 p.m.
