PalatinE-Newsletter keeping our subscribers informed of the happenings within the Village of Palatine.


No Mosquitoes

Fite the Bite

Visit the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District (NWMAD) website here or call 847-537-2306 to learn important facts on to how to protect yourself and your family from mosquitos and West Nile virus.  
 
The NWMAD website also posts information about
adulticiding (night spraying) and will post which map
sections/areas NWMAD will be adulticiding after 2 pm on those days they plan to spray. Residents who would like advanced notification of night spraying, may also request to be put on a "prior notification list" via text or email by contacting NWMAD at 847-537-2306.  
 
Please do your part to eliminate sources of standing water on your property to prevent mosquitos.  Residents may also request a NWMAD technician to inspect a water source for any concerns of mosquitos breeding by contacting 847-537-2306. 

Palatine Police Department

Now Accepting Applications for
the Citizen Police Academy

The Palatine Police Department is accepting applications for the fall session of the Citizen Police Academy.  Classes will be held from September 6 through October 25.  The Citizen Police Academy is a unique opportunity for participants to gain insight into the world of law enforcement as well foster positive relationships with the officers who serve their community.

Scarecrows on Parade

10th Annual Scarecrows on Parade


Enter the 10th annual scarecrow decorating contest as part of the Palatine Rotary Club's 2017 Oktoberfest Festival. Home Depot in Palatine will provide 20 scarecrow skeletons, so don't wait!

Call the Palatine Public Works Department at
(847) 705-5200 to reserve your scarecrow today!

Scarecrow Skeleton Pick Up:
Monday, August 21
Public Works Department 
148 W. Illinois Ave.
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 2:30 PM

Judging and Award Ceremony:
Drop off skeletons at the corner of Brockway and Slade Streets by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Judging will take place at 12:00 p.m.


The award ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Oktoberfest Main Tent.
*All participating scarecrows will remain on display along the rail walk fence.

Hosted by the Bike Club of Palatine

An event for the whole family, just bring a bike and helmet.  
Please meet at Town Square at 9:30am, rain or shine (unless there is lighting).

Street Fest August 25-27, 2017

The annual fest will feature food from Artistic Cuisine, Brother’s Ribs, Christie’s Dairy Delights, Heybeck’s Market, Siri Thai, Slice of Chicago, Sweet C’s, Taqueria la Rosita, and Tre Amici Pizza.
 
Don’t forget to bring the family to the Kid’s Zone area.  There will be games, entertainment, and moon jumps!  Entertainment includes a balloon artist, magicians, and various demonstrations featuring Police K-9s, Martial Arts, dancers, theater, and more.  While you are there, visit the local nonprofit organizations and see how they are making a difference in your community.


The fest will be rocking all weekend long with numerous bands from all different genres.
