The Village of Palatine wishes to share community news, events and information important to the residents it serves. The Village of Palatine will release a weekly PalatinE-Newsletter keeping our subscribers informed of the happenings within the Village of Palatine.

Electronics Recycling Event - Saturday, August 5

The Village of Palatine and the Palatine Park District will host an electronics recycling event sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). This event will be held at Village Hall (200 E. Wood Street) and the Palatine Park District Community Center (250 E. Wood Street), on Saturday, August 5, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Residents from Palatine and other SWANCC member communities are eligible to participate. Electronics will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools or institutions. Identification will be checked for verification of residency. See list of acceptable items.

Street Fest August 25-27, 2017

The annual fest will feature food from Artistic Cuisine, Brother’s Ribs, Christie’s Dairy Delights, Heybeck’s Market, Siri Thai, Slice of Chicago, Sweet C’s, Taqueria la Rosita, and Tre Amici Pizza.
Don’t forget to bring the family to the Kid’s Zone area.  There will be games, entertainment, and moon jumps!  Entertainment includes a balloon artist, magicians, and various demonstrations featuring Police K-9s, Martial Arts, dancers, theater, and more.  While you are there, visit the local nonprofit organizations and see how they are making a difference in your community.

The fest will be rocking all weekend long with numerous bands from all different genres.

Blood Drive

Village Hosts Blood Donation Drive
Thursday, August 17 

The Palatine Board of Health is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood Street, in Community Room B. The blood drive will be conducted by LifeSource.

The blood donation takes approximately 10-15 minutes, and the entire process from registration to post-donation refreshments takes about one hour. For more information about the donation process or to schedule an appointment to give blood, please contact LifeSource at 877-543-3768 or visit Walk-ins are welcome. 

If residents cannot make the August 17 blood drive, the Village will host another blood drive on Thursday, October 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Scarecrows on Parade

10th Annual Scarecrows on Parade

Enter the 10th annual scarecrow decorating contest as part of the Palatine Rotary Club's 2017 Oktoberfest Festival. Home Depot in Palatine will provide 20 scarecrow skeletons, so don't wait!

Judging and Award Ceremony:
Drop off skeletons at the corner of Brockway and Slade Streets by 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16. Judging will take place at 12:00 p.m.

The award ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Oktoberfest Main Tent.
*All participating scarecrows will remain on display along the rail walk fence. 

Palatine Police Department

Now Accepting Applications for the Citizen Police Academy

The Palatine Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizen Police Academy. The fall session will be held from September 6 through October 25. The Citizen Police Academy is a unique opportunity for participants to gain insight into the world of law enforcement as well foster positive relationships with the officers who serve their community.  

The eight week course will be taught by numerous members of the police department and will include classroom lectures and hands-on experience.  Topics to be covered include:

• Use of Force
• Shoot Don’t Shoot Scenarios
• Crime Prevention
• Vehicle Stops
• Neighborhood Based Policing
• SWAT Operations
• Gangs
• K-9 Demonstration
• Animal Control
• Crime Scene Investigation

The goal of the Citizen Police Academy is to educate citizens regarding the profession of law enforcement and to work cooperatively with Palatine residents in making our community a safe place to live and work.

Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and residents of Palatine. Class size is limited and spots fill quickly.  If interested, please fill out an application and mail to the following:
