The Village of Palatine wishes to share community news, events and information important to the residents it serves. The Village of Palatine will release a weekly PalatinE-Newsletter keeping our subscribers informed of the happenings within the Village of Palatine.

2017 Hometown Pride Award

Hometown Pride Awards - Nominations Due July 21!

The 2017 Hometown Pride Awards will honor residential and business properties in Palatine that display exceptional landscaping and curb appeal. Residential homes and businesses will be judged on overall appearance, design, maintenance, color, and diversity. Only the front of the properties visible from the street will be judged. 

Nomination forms and one 4" x 6" photograph (or digital photo) taken within the last 30 days can be mailed or dropped off at the Department of Public Works, C/o Hometown Pride Awards, 148 W. Illinois Avenue, Palatine, 60067, or emailed to Elias Koutas at

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, July 21. Judging will take place on Monday, July 24. Winners will be notified by mail shortly thereafter. You may download a nomination form or fill out an online application for submission. Visit for more information on the Hometown Pride Award.

Electronics Recycling Event - Saturday, August 5

The Village of Palatine and the Palatine Park District will host an electronics recycling event sponsored by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC). This event will be held at Village Hall (200 E. Wood Street) and the Palatine Park District Community Center (250 E. Wood Street), on Saturday, August 5, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Residents from Palatine and other SWANCC member communities are eligible to participate. Electronics will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools or institutions. Identification will be checked for verification of residency. See list of acceptable items.

Blood Drive

Village Hosts Blood Donation Drive
Thursday, August 17 

The Palatine Board of Health is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood Street, in Community Room B. The blood drive will be conducted by LifeSource.

The blood donation takes approximately 10-15 minutes, and the entire process from registration to post-donation refreshments takes about one hour. If residents cannot make the August 17 blood drive, the Village will host another blood drive on Thursday, October 19, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

2017 Street Fest

2017 Palatine Street Fest

August 25 - 27, 2017

The Village of Palatine will host the annual Palatine Street Fest on Friday, August 25 through Sunday, August 27, 2017. 

Join us for live entertainment, food and family fun! Headlining bands will include Sister Hazel, Wedding Banned, and 7th Heaven.

Check out our Street Fest website and Facebook page for a full line-up of bands, participating food vendors, and non-profit organizations, and schedule activities for kids and family. 

Severe Weather Emergency

Reminder for Severe Weather Safety

Severe weather can develop quickly with little to no warning. Heavy winds and lighting can cause power outages, uprooted trees, landslides, and downed or broken power lines. Heavy rains can cause flash floods. 

Stay alert and be prepared, familiarize yourself and your family with the following terms:

Tornado Watch: Conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes. 

Tornado Warning: A tornado has been reported by spotters or National Weather Service (NWD) meteorologists have determined that one is about to form in the next several minutes. Go to substantial shelter immediately.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms containing large hail and damaging wind.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large hail and/or damaging winds have been reported by spotters or is about to develop. Go to a substantial shelter immediately

Flood Watch: Conditions are favorable for flooding and caution should be taken.

Flood Warning: Flooding is imminent or occurring and if caution is not taken, it could lead to a situation that may threaten life and/or property.

During the storm...

  • Avoid handling or being near metal, electrical equipment, telephones, bathtubs, water faucets or sinks because electric current from lightning can travel through wires and pipes. 
  • If you are outside, take cover in a stable facility. Avoid taking shelter under trees.
  • Tune in to local TV/radio channels for emergency advisories and instructions. 
  • Avoid walking through water that has seeped into your home; it may contain hazardous materials.
  • If you are asked to evacuate your home, follow instructions given to you by emergency personnel.
  • Avoid downed power lines and broken gas lines; report them to 9-1-1.
  • Stay tuned to local weather stations for updated information.
