LifeSource Chicagoland's Blood Center

Fire Fighter Blood Donor Challenge

The Palatine Fire Department, Board of Health and Palatine Medical Reserve Corps are hosting a Fire Fighter Blood Donor Challenge on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 220 W. Illinois Ave., Fire Station 84.

LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center, will conduct the blood drive. All participating donors will receive a commemorative t-shirt and free cholesterol screening. As a thank you and show of appreciation, donors will be provided sub sandwiches and refreshments.

Severe Weather Alerts

Severe Weather Safety

During the spring and summer months, severe weather can develop quickly with little to no warning. Heavy wind and lighting can cause power outages, uprooted trees, landslides, and downed or broken power line. Heavy rains can cause flash floods. 

Stay alert and be prepared, familiarize yourself and your family with the following terms:

Tornado Watch: Conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes. 

Tornado Warning: A tornado has been reported by spotters, or National Weather Service (NWD) meteorologists have determined that one is about to form in the next several minutes. Go to substantial shelter immediately.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch: Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms containing large hail and damaging wind.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Large hail and/or damaging wind has been reported by spotters, or is about to develop. Go to a substantial shelter immediately. 
  • During the storm, avoid handling or being near metal, electrical equipment, telephones, bathtubs, water faucets or sinks because electric current from lightning can travel through wires and pipes. 
  • If you are outside, take cover in a stable facility. Avoid taking shelter under trees.
  • Tune in to local TV/radio channels for emergency advisories and instructions. 
  • Avoid walking through water that has seeped into your home; it may contain hazardous materials.
  • If you are asked to evacuate your home, follow instructions given to you by emergency personnel.
  • Call the Public Works Department to report fallen trees, tree limbs, clogged catch basins or flooded streets at (847) 705-5200.
  • Avoid downed power lines and broken gas lines; report them to 9-1-1. 
  • Stay tuned to local weather stations for updated information.

A Friendly Reminder...

Village of Palatine vehicle stickers must be purchased by June 30, 2017 and are available for purchase on our website at or in person, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To avoid penalties and citations, vehicle stickers must be purchased and affixed to vehicles by June 30. Late fees will be charged beginning July 1, increasing the price to $50 per vehicle sticker.
