Click It or Ticket Campaign Reminds People to Buckle Up for Safety
The Palatine Police Department participated in the annual Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign from May 15 through May 30. The campaign, which coincided with one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year, stressed the importance of seat belt use through enforcement and community outreach.
The Palatine Police Department conducted both day and night enforcement reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired. Other state, county and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois joined in the effort to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.
The following is a result summary of the Memorial Day mobilization in the Village of Palatine:
- 129 seat belt citations
- 3 DUI arrests
- 6 speeding citations
- 2 uninsured motorists citations
- 87 illegal use of cell phone while driving citations
- 37 other traffic related citations
- 6 suspended/revoked driver’s license arrests
- 1 drug arrest
- 1 warrant arrest
