Palatine Police Announce ‘Click It or Ticket’ Campaign Numbers
|
|
|
|
The Palatine Police Department announced it issued 420 citations during the recent Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” enforcement period. “Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts and child safety restraints save lives,” said Commander David Brandwein.
While Illinois’ 2021 seat belt compliance rate was 93.5%, unbelted occupants still account for over half of those killed in traffic crashes. The “Click It or Ticket” campaign aims to change the behavior of the millions of people who don’t buckle up. Thousands of lives could be saved each year if every vehicle occupant was properly restrained when traveling.
During the enforcement period, the Palatine Police Department wrote 171 citations for seat belt violations and took the following additional actions:
- 3 child car seat citations
- 3 DUI arrests
- 5 felony & misdemeanor arrests
- 1 Unlawful Possession of firearm arrest
- 1 fugitive apprehended
- 14 suspended/revoked licenses
- 36 uninsured motorists
- 66 speeding citations
- 1 misdemeanor speeding arrest
- 1 drug arrest
The Illinois “Click It or Ticket” campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal highway safety funds.

District 15's Board of Education is considering a comprehensive proposal referred to as Moving 15 Forward that would benefit every student, school, and community. This is a community-driven plan that addresses three critical areas of improvement: repair and restore facilities, update learning spaces, and improve student transitions. Repairing and restoring facilities would allow the district to address repairs, maintenance, site improvements, and critical upgrades, improve health, safety, and security needs, improve energy efficiency, enhance accessibility, and extend the useful life of school buildings.

Buying or selling something from a stranger? Use the Palatine Police Department's "Internet Purchase Exchange Zone" as a safe location for residents to exchange goods sold through online sites.
A large sign designates a well-lit area on the west side of the main police station parking lot that is under 24-hour video surveillance.
Have your meet up location at the Palatine Police Headquarters front parking lot, 595 N. Hicks Road, and tell them to meet you by the sign.
