April is Safe Digging Month
|
|
|
|
|
April marks Safe Digging Month, reminding homeowners and professional excavators to contact JULIE before every digging project, regardless of the size or depth. Putting up a fence, installing a mailbox post, building a deck or patio and planting trees and shrubs are all examples of projects that require a notification to JULIE first. This is a free service. Member utilities have two business days to respond to your request. Notifications received after 4 p.m. are processed at 8 a.m. the next day. So if you want to start your outdoor project on the weekend, contact JULIE before 4 p.m. on Wednesday. JULIE’s call center agents are available to receive and process requests 24 hours a day, seven days a week. E-Request is a free, self-service option available anytime online. Striking a buried utility line can cause injury, repair costs, penalties and inconvenient outages. Here are five important steps before putting a shovel in the ground: - Pre-mark the dig site with white paint or flags.
- Go to www.JULIEBeforeYouDig.com or call 8-1-1 to submit your locate request.
- Wait the required amount of time (two business days).
- Respect the marks.
- Dig with care.

Village of Palatine Vehicle Stickers
|
|
|
|
|
Did you know the Village of Palatine requires a vehicle sticker to be purchased for every motor vehicle which is registered to an address or principally garaged in Palatine? The 2021-2022 stickers were required to be purchased and displayed by November 1st, 2021. In the next few weeks, the Village will begin mailing notices to registered owners of vehicles who have not purchased the 2021-2022 stickers.
For owners of qualified vehicles who have not yet obtained the 2021-2022 sticker for their motor vehicles, it can still be purchased on the Village website.
The funds derived from vehicles sticker sales are used to repair and maintain roadways owned by the Village. We ask everyone to do their part to help keep the Village of Palatine streets in safe and operable working condition!

District 15's Moving Forward Community Info Sessions
|
|
|
|
|
Community Consolidated School District 15’s Board of Education is currently considering a proposal recommended by members of the administrative team, which is referred to as Moving 15 Forward. This proposal is a community-driven plan designed to focus on addressing long-standing educational and facility needs in order to boldly move the District forward. In April and May, the District will be hosting community information meetings. Meeting details, additional information about the proposed improvements, and a detailed summary of the upgrades planned at each school can be found at www.ccsd15.net/moving15forward.

Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund
|
|
|
|
|
The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) has begun accepting applications for the Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) to help homeowners who have fallen behind on mortgage payments and related housing expenses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eligible households can apply for up to $30,000 in free assistance to pay past due mortgage payments, property taxes, property insurance, and delinquent homeowner and/or condo association fees.
Homeowners in need of assistance can find more information on program eligibility and how they can apply at www.IllinoisHousingHelp.org. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

National Work Zone Safety Week April 11 - 15, 2022
|
|
|
|
|
Construction season is ramping up across the state and the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police, Illinois Tollway, industry partners and frontline construction workers have joined forces for National Work Zone Awareness Week. During another year of construction in Illinois, the public is urged to put down their devices, keep their eyes on the road at all times and remember that "Work Zones Are a Sign to Slow Down.”

It's time to get rid of all that "stuff" you no longer want. Reserve a space in the Twin Lakes Parking Lot on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and turn your unwanted household items, tools, clothes and more into cash. Adults, clean out that basement, attic, and garbage. Kids, clean out those closets.
