Construction Alert: Rohlwing Road Improvements Project
Rohlwing Road from Palatine Road to Northwest Highway is being rehabilitated this year. The Village received over $750,000 in Rebuild Illinois grant funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), which will provide the majority of the funding required to rehabilitate the pavement. The Village also anticipates receiving $250,000 in grant funds from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to cover the balance of the project. Work began the week of September 20, 2021, and will be completed by November 19, 2021. This project includes pavement resurfacing and base course patching from Palatine Road to Wilmette Road, full-depth base and pavement rehabilitation from Wilmette Road to Northwest Highway, curb and gutter removal and replacement, sidewalk replacement, ramp upgrades to meet ADA requirements, and removal of the brick-enclosed landscape island at the south end of Rohlwing and replacement with an at-grade median. Rohlwing Road will be accessible throughout the duration of the project, but at times there may be traffic delays due to the construction activities. There will be lane reductions and adjusted traffic patterns from just north of Wilmette Road to Northwest Highway for a portion of the project. If you have any questions about this public improvement project, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200.
