American Legion Memorial Day Ceremony

The American Legion Post 690 is sponsoring a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 31st beginning at 10:00 AM with a service at Hillside Cemetery on Smith Street in Palatine followed by a program at the Veterans Memorial in Community Park and one in Towne Square.

“This year there will be no parade and no band because of the pandemic,” said Paul Clausell, Commander of the American Legion Post 690. “We will have the three ceremonies. Social distancing and masks will be required at all three ceremonies.”

Following the Hillside Cemetery program at 11:00 AM there will be a short program at the Veterans Memorial and then another ceremony at the Legion Memorial in Towne Square at 150 W. Palatine Road beginning at 12:15 PM. Community members are invited to the American Legion across the street from Towne Square following the ceremonies.

To help the community honor veterans, the American Legion is selling American flags from their clubroom at 122 West Palatine Road in Palatine. For more information visit their website.
