The Public Works Department is now offering a cost sharing program for homeowners to replace their lead water service lines. The Lead Water Service Line Replacement Cost Sharing Program is voluntary and available to all residential properties with existing lead service lines. Residents must obtain pre-approval from the Public Works Department in order to participate.
Under the Program, the Village will reimburse homeowners 100% of the cost to replace the service line from the water main to the water shut off valve (also known as the b-box) and 2/3 of the cost from the shut off valve to the meter. The maximum reimbursement is $10,000, plus permit fees, and will be issued after the work is completed. The work must be performed by a plumbing contractor that is licensed and bonded to work in the Village. Residents are encouraged to obtain at least three proposals.
