Are you interested in reusing rainwater on your property? The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) offers a rain barrel program to Cook County residents. Rain barrels connect to downspouts and collect water flowing from your roof. They help reduce the amount of storm water runoff by storing rainwater for future use, prevent sewer overflows and flooding by keeping water out of the sewer system, and lower your water bill by reusing rainwater instead of tap water for outdoor use. The collected water can be used to water your garden or lawn, wash your car, or clean tools.
Each order includes a rain barrel, leaf and mosquito filter screen, spigot/tap, overflow adaptor and hose, connecting elbow to attach the barrel to your downspout, and free delivery to your home.
